The Sad Truth (for all of you)
Bob,
We must've gotten it all in South Jersey! We sailed for 2 days (Saturday and
Sunday) with a steady breeze of 15+ mph. It was glorious! The gentle chop
rocked my wife to sleep, and I sat back, one hand on the tiller, the other
holding a Monticristo, and couldn't believe how good it all was.
The toughest part of the whole trip was trying to get back into my slip, a
very awkward location, as the wind seemed intent on driving me into the
$300K fishing boat next to me.
Scout
I saw the same thing. After a long, slow motorsail into SWerlies on Friday,
Sunday's run from Absecon to Barnegat was glorious. That is until, some fool
in a Tartan 30 wanted to play hardass and called leeward in the middle of the
ocean as we were heading to the Barny inlet with a bluefish on the line. He
practically luffed us up and caused us to lose the fish. Those are the guys
who give sailing a bad name (hope it wasn't you).
