I recently bought a sailboat with a Yamaha 9.9 horsepower 4-stroke long

shaft
outboard. I'm not sure of the exact year, but I think it is somewhere

between
1991 and 1995. My questions a

What type of oil does this engine use in the crankcase? weight?

The same oil that you put in your car. Or you can buy some really
expensive marine oil that works the same, but costs $5 a quart.

The dipstick has a crosshatched area about 4 inches long, but no marks to
indicate like a car dipstick to say what is full and what is one quart

low.
Should the oil be all the way to the top of the cross hatch area?

*WHAP* (That was the sound of the cluestick hitting you.)
