That's all going to get a great deal of scrutiny by law enforcement of
course.Â* Based on the sound recordings I've heard it certainly seems
likely to have been full auto, and possibly belt fed based on the
duration of fire.Â* A 223 on full auto will empty a 30 round mag in
about 3 seconds and the bursts I heard seemed much longer than that.

Another interesting aspect that doesn't seem to have gotten any
coverage is the fact that the hotel has no apparent balconies or
opening windows.Â* That would imply that the shooter blew out the
windows from inside as he started his assault.

They do make larger drum type magazines for ARs.
He broke out the windows.

This was reported as being a "millionaire" so with enough money you
can buy anything. They also say he was a gambler so he may have been
an ex millionaire.
He may have just snapped after a bad night in the casino.

We can all be thankful that in the future Trump's wall and his
restrictions against Muslim nations will keep Mexican and Muslim
terrorists out, leaving the field open for native-born terrorists.

They may affect the influence of terrorist organizations like ISIS on
native-borns.Â* ISIS is claiming responsibility for his actions.

You seem to have just accepted that nothing can be done about these
kinds of horrific shootings and love to Monday morning quarterback every
attempt anyone makes to minimize the threats.

The overwhelming majority of these mass murder shootings are committed
by native-born Americans against other native-born Americans. Trump's
folly wall and muslim bans are just food for his base voters. As you
have pointed out, or at least I thought you did, *mandatory* background
checks for *every* firearms "buy-sell-trade" transaction would be a good
place to start and, yes, *every* means every.

Just think, it will only take 49 more assholes like the one in Vegas to equal what a few muslims did in NY on the morning of 9-11.

I don't really disagree about background checks, but it wouldn't have stopped what happened in Vegas.

I agree but if a universal background check system could stop even *one*
of these events from happening, it would be worth it. A background
check is really not an inconvenience.

For it to really be effective HIPAA will have to be gutted. Right now someone can be bat-**** crazy and their "privacy" is protected.

Buying and owning a firearm is a right and that right should be
protected. However, owning a firearm constitutes assumption of
responsibility as well. I have no problem with a requirement to
waive any mental disability or competency records from the HIPAA privacy
regulations if one chooses to purchase and own a firearm. It certainly
doesn't mean that all of HIPAA has to be gutted.

HIPAA is stupid in many ways anyway. Even a caretaker or next of kin can
be barred from the details of a loved one's medical or mental condition
or status.
