I was curious about this place, too,
Ariane, and found out that it's the
Stonington Opera House.

Summarized:

Rebuilt in 1912 after a fire, the Opera
House has hosted vaudeville shows, plays,
dances, basketball games, and numerous
other community events.

It has held a movie-theater off-and-on
since 1918 (which was likely its main
use at the time this photo was taken).
For a while in the 1960s, it even held
a roller-skating rink.

Since 1999, its new non-profit owners
have restored the building to use as
a community-arts-centered place, with
a regular schedule of performing arts
and movies.
