I've been thinking of getting something that I could take to local beaches to float along within a few hundred feet of beaches and maybe occasionally on a medium sized lake. Gotta admit, I like the high comfortable seating although it can't be as stable as a low sitting position.

Hobie might disagree but in my opinion no canoe or kayak is safe in
rough water, especially cold water. It doesn't take long to lose
breathing abilty in those circumstances. Don't ask me how I know.
