You know that now the streets will be safe. This is good, but on the

What?

This is what you supposedly didn't see.

" Praise needs to be given to the Mayor of Baltimore. For years the Black
community has been under assault by 4 Confederate Monuments.

These monuments were relentless in their destruction of the Black family as
over 70% of Black children were born out of wedlock . So terrified by the
presence of these monuments, over 60% of Black men in the city could not
work a job and found comfort in fathering numerous children with numerous
women that they could not feed.

Just knowing that the monuments were there made Black school children have
the lowest test scores in the Nation and many turned to drugs to relieve the
sting of the monuments presence.

Worst of all, the mere presence of the monuments caused death. Not being
able to handle the hate and violence that the monuments represented , the
Black males in the city took to killing each other by the thousands. Just in
the last 2 years they have murdered 500 of their own.

Praise be to God and the Wisdom of the Mayor.....It is a new dawn for Black
Baltimoreans!.....The shackles have been removed and all that can be said
is...."Free at last, free last, Lord God Almighty, we're free at last"

You're reposting right-wing racist propaganda? Crikey. You hang with a
nice crowd.

It is a valid point. When you have the cities crumbling under crushing
debt, reeling from a murder rate worse than Beirut and double digit
unemployment, why are they wasting money and effort removing 100 year
old statues?

Because they remind minorities of slavery and oppression.

Isn't the real slavery and oppression the crime, unemployment and lack
of opportunity?
I doubt more than a handful of people in Baltimore know who Taney was
and even fewer know how he figured into Dred Scott or even what that
was.
They were certainly far from "oppressed" over it.

Your doubts don't make you a black person whose ancestors lived in
slavery and the oppression that existed with it and afterwards, and the
discrimination you still face today. I doubt you will find many statues
in Israel commemoration the pharaohs or in Germany commemorating Hitler.

The original post in this thread was racist. I'd guess it was posted by
Herring the Racist.

So many things are called racist these days that it has become a
meaningless word. People like you apply it to anyone who disagrees
with them ... about anything.
I do wonder how all of those people in Baltimore survived for all of
the years that the statues were there. I bet 6 months ago, your
average black person there did not know or even care that there was a
statue, much less actually know who the person was.
In nothing else, at least a few more people now know that guys like
Stonewall Jackson were generals in the civil war. Most did not have a
clue a month ago. Even if they got the right war, they had a 50:50
chance of guessing the wrong side. History has become a cult study in
the public school system. When you look at how many Baltimore blacks
who have dropped out of school or who are not even close to the
standard, that is not really that important to them anyway.
As long as you can keep the count right, you can work a drug corner
without a whole lot of education. If you are just "muscle" it takes
less than that. Taking down a statue of some old dead guy will not
change that.
