Luddite's comment reminded me of breakfast at the Cu Chi mess hall. Powdered eggs every day for
breakfast. I really believe they were developed by Mr. Tabasco just to increase his sales. Tabasco
sauce made them edible.
I have eaten more powdered eggs in hotels at the "free" breakfast than
I ever had in the military. This isn't the super 8 either, it is
Marriott and Hyatt type places. It is interesting that they will
custom make you a waffle and cook an omelette for you to order but the
big pan of scrambled eggs is powder.
Before it was demolished, the Sheraton Bal Harbour put on a huge
breakfast spread buffet for early risers, and the scrambled eggs were
made right in front of your eyes. It was a grand hotel, and I was sorry
to see it blown up. I stayed there at least a dozen times over the years:

Once I snatched away the eggs, sausages, bacon, potato breakfast of a
retired gangster I knew and replaced it with a bowl of oatmeal. He had a
serious heart condition, and his wife just winked at me when I did it.
Sadly, he died about year later...coronary.
Someone should have done you the same favor. Then you might be able to see your toes.
