Elon is highly funded by the taxpayers. Of his 3 businesses, all depend on

They at least test and document. My son in law works on GPS satellites.
Says they have had problems with Space X because of not testing welds and
components. One of the crashes was when the poor weld holding a pressure
tank in position failed.

I think they learn quickly from their mistakes. It's impressive to me
how far they've come in a relatively short time. Watching their spent
booster stages retro fire and land upright is a thing of beauty, and a
reminder of how far rocket technology has advanced in our lifetime.
