Default 1st time boat owner getting insurance

Try Boat/US.

They have three levels of insurance, the difference being in how extras are covered, and
whether depreciation is computed. So if you get the cheap version, don't complain when
they tell you your dinghy outboard was depreciated below the deductible level. They are
very good in disaster situations - my cousins had their boat helicopter'd out of a swamp
the day after Hurricane Bob.

I'm thinking of buying my first boat and I'm interested in a 36' Hunter. I
asked for a quote from United Marine Underwriters, but I was declined due to
the size of the boat and no previous boat ownership experience.

Does anyone know of an insurance company that will help 1st time big boat
owners?
