It is unusual that anyone but the real chef got to wear a chef hat.
They generally see that as a badge of rank and get particular about
who gets to wear one.

I think the idea was to create an image that I *was* the pop-over chef.
Stupid tall, white hat that kept flopping over to one side. It *looked*
like a lop-sided pop-over.

The chef at Judy's place does not want any confusion about who the
chef is. He wears the white chef suit and all of the assistant chefs
wear black. Lesser workers have other uniforms. He is the only one
with a big hat. This is sort of a cross between the military and
Caddyshack. ... "Dog Food!"

I doubt very much that anyone confused me as being a "real" chef.
