online," but the OED is not one of them. It's available online. But I
have my own copy of the OED and have had it for 20+ years, at least.

I gave my OED to the kids but since none of us were alive in the 14th

You gave a 20-volume set of the OED to your kids, eh? I sort of
inherited mine, and also have the 20 volumes on a DVD set of two discs.

The one I had was a 4" thick book like you would find in the library.

is just more of your badly educated nonsense.

The context of the use of the word says it all. You were trying to
insult veterans. Your disdain of the people who serve is very clear
from what you say here. You enjoy the freedom the military has given
you but you feel no obligation to participate or even to recognize
their sacrifice. It is just a joke to you.

Why would using an archaic spelling of a fairly neutral word be insulting?

I guess you did not really pay attention in university.
