It is certainly true that we are more violent. If you take away all of
the gun related murders (about 67%), we still have a comparable murder
rate to most of the western world. That assumes that the murderer
would not have killed at all if he did not have a gun. Unfortunately
we are resourceful. I doubt a lack of guns would bend the curve at
all. When they banned the "efficient" guns in Australia, it did not
really make a bump in the curve of the murder rate (that was already
going down before the gun grab)
