I would be more likely to blame it on our diet and lack of exercise.
Mom is not home cooking tasty and nutritious dinner anymore. People

high in fat and sugar. Our average weight is creeping up every year.
Exercise is walking to the fridge for some ice cream.


The article I saw said it was caused by drug overdoses and the flu.
People generally are younger if they die from on OD, this skews the
numbers down.
I had not heard it was a bad year for flu?
The only data I find show pediatric deaths 1/2 of last season.
