I used to race boats but age and health do not allow it now. That does not
mean however that my heart is not still in the sport. I like to follow it
by attending as many races as I can and by viewing this news group along
with some racing web sites.

It is really degrading to this wonderful sport the manner that some limited
few people conduct themselves here. I finally had enough of the vulgarity
and other trash that I stopped visiting here except for an occasional
"look-see". For a short period recently it was actually once again a
pleasant place to visit, but as you can see it is back to those with trash
mouths.

I only met Connie once at the AOF nationals and could only visit with her
briefly because she was so busy and consumed with conducting the race. I
was commodore of the KC club for several years so I'm quite aware of the
resources required to conduct races and only have admiration and respect for
her. I shall presume that those who "Mean Mouth" the many folks promoting
boat racing have never actually spent their own hard labors, money and
emotions of getting the job done. If they had, they would show more respect
for those trying to save a dying sport. Then to further insult family
members is about as low as it gets.

The cost of the sport, the physical labor required to get ready and
participate, etc ad inifinitum certainly is significant in itself. . But
why would any person thinking of entering into boat racing deliberately
associate themselves with a limited few people who have no regard for other
people, their families and their efforts. We who have been around the sport
for a while know of a young may who displayed the same actions and attitudes
that some do here. He was finally "drummed" out of the sport because he was
so undesirable and such a disgrace to the sport.

You'll find his name in AOF records of 5 years ago or so, but no more!

Perhaps it's time to start sorting out those who only create grief, give the
sport a bad name, and run potential new racers away, suggest that these
undesirables take up doing something else with their time, who needs them
anyway? Officers of the local clubs should vote on names to be put on a
list. When these folks show up or mail in their club dues, just return or
don't accept them. These lists should be passed on to the sanctioning
organizations for the same actions. As with a lot of things, why let a few
ruin it for everyone and that is exactly what is happening..

Now.... for those limited one or two who this shoe fits, send me all your
nasty grams, mean mouth me publicly, get it out of your system and then let
the sport survive. The cost of equipment and the effort required is killing
the sport fast enough without your help.

There was a time in the past when I used to look forward with great
anticipation to reading the interesting and informative posts to this
newsgroup, well, that has changed.
I don't believe I have ever seen a boatracing site take such a ridiculous
turn as this group has.
When I started reading this group several years ago I only owned a private
go-fast superboat, since then I became involved in APBA racing in 3
different classes and now own and race a 1liter mod, 5liter and a NM
hydroplane.
A fair amount of the knowledge I possess I gained from reading this
newsgroup.
Well ,guess what readers, there is no more informative content available

on
this newsgroup. It would seem this group is now just a venue for spammers
and flamers. Spammers and flamers who don't even have the gonads to use
their own names to attach to the idiotic writings they post to this group.
Well , Wyatt Earp, Boatracer11f, and the rest of the morons who have
polluted this group, so long, I think I will look for a group who attracts
posters with more than a single digit I.Q.
