The John is showing the classic symptoms of being punch drunk.
I'm afraid we've been a little too rough on his delicate condition. Notice how he flails away at any perceived insult. His instigating, agitating and enabling are over the top.

Naw. Once in a while Skipper was clever. I cannot recall a single
instance in which Herring posted something clever he wrote. His sense of
entitlement here is laughable, as if anyone is required to respond to
his tirades.
