I guess that is my problem with all of this. None of is are good
enough to compete at the highest level and my "out of the box" Colt
target woodsman shoots better than I do. A better gun is not going to
make anyone but the best shooters any better and shooting an inferior
gun will not improve scores that much for them. The difference is, at
that level, the match is won by millimeters.

The best pistol shooter I have ever seen was my chief on the Absecon.
He shot on the CG pistol team and had a very tricked out Gold Cup Colt
but 99% of the time, he just grabbed a random WWII surplus 1911 from
the rack and still kept them in the X ring most of the time. He told
me "don't buy a better gun until you can show me your old gun is what
is holding you back".
