They should have just taken the calf home, fed it and had a bunch of
bison burger in a year or so. The rules of the park will not allow
them to nurse it along (let nature take it's course) but by all
accounts it was a healthy calf, abandoned by it's mother.
Not all that unusual in an enclave run by the government. Just look at
the kids in DC. ;-)
You aren't suggesting euthanizing "the kids in DC" are you? I wonder if
it would cause a blip in the crime rate among DCers?

Black Calves Matter!
Bison calves are reddish. Yellowstone rangers a few years ago, got a
complaint of a bunch of red dogs following the buffalo. Rangers still
laugh about that.
