You would expect otherwise? The Roman council that "edited" the
testaments that were "accepted" engaged in some heavy editing and
rewriting. Even the calendar was modified...because Easter, after all,
comes after Passover, not before it or during it.

Rewriting history to advance the objectives of the present is
certainly not a new concept.
