This morning, when I awoke at 3 am and couldn't get back to
sleep, one of the many
thoughts that drifted through was about what trips you may take
this summer. I know
you've hit the Bahamas pretty hard, and I was wondering if you'd
ever cruised over to
New Orleans, staying fairly close to the shore and putting in at
any interesting
places along the way. Seems like it would be worth it just to
get some good Louisiana
red beans and rice.

That cruise is definitely on my bucket list. People who have done
that run say the Florida panhandle area is some of the best cruising
anywhere. One of the challenges is what is known as the "Big Bend"
area of Florida, which because of shallow water, forces you to run
offshore from Clearwater up towards Panama City. Nothing we haven't
done before but you need to wait for the right weather window and
then
run all night. Once you get to Panama City you can run inside on
the
the Gulf Coast ICW all the way to New Orleans if you choose.

Right now however I'm salivating at the very real possibility of
cruising to Cuba. The regulatory and insurance issues are rapidly
improving and it looks like there is a very real chance of being
able
to go sometime in the near future.

We don't have anything like that in the works, but right now we're
going to Pohick
Bay camping for the weekend. Time to 'de-winterize'.

The weather has been great here for the last week or two. Yesterday I
turned the pool heater back on for the season.

Friday was great, yesterday the temp went down and the wind came up,
and today we
even had a bit of snow. Crazy.

Camping trip went well, however, and nothing broke.

Been beautiful here. I was supposed to rain this weekend but it turned
out fine. We got out on the boat all 3 days. It was cloudy but warm.
Little spit of rain for a few minutes on Saturday.
We are in the pool now too. It is over 80 and that is good for me.

I spent a couple of off days finishing out and sanding old drywall
mud, taping a seam, and painting the inside of the garage. Rented a
small platform scaffold, because the damned walls are 12' high, along
with, of course, the ceiling. Grrr.

Sometime this week, I'm going to put epoxy "paint" on the garage
floor. Kelly green.

Exciting, eh?

You have nothing but "off days". At least your landlord has you doing
chores to earn your keep.
