In about an hour or so I'm off to Home Depot to buy the Honda EU2000 generator. I
know you've got one laying around somewhere, so if you're looking to get rid of that
old thing, let me know - quickly.
That is a nice machine, if it is big enough for your needs.
It'll work, but not enough to power the A/C. For that I'd have to get the sister unit
and put them together. Then I'd even get a 30amp receptacle.
Anyway, got to Home Depot only to find they had none in stock.

I have two window AC's that I keep stored for long-term outages. I can
have one running in 15 minutes. After the last hurricane they came in
handy and draw very little power. I was running one of them, my
refrigerator, a garage freezer, and my cable/TV on a 7000 watt generator
at the same time.
If I had natural gas I would have a standby generator. They are fairly
cheap and run automatically. My only option is to bury an LP tank and
that's not worth the trouble and it's also empty when it's empty!
The Honda will run one window AC and you can switch over to the
refrigerator for short periods to keep that cold. You will end up with
extension cords running though the house but it's temporary.
