Ranger Dave (my SIL) took us on a hike through the Corkscrew
yesterday. There is a raised trail going through the Corkscrew that
used to be the rail bed for a narrow gauge rail line they used for
harvesting cypress up until the 50s. It was a pleasant walk with lots
of birds and a couple gators ... no bugs.
It was one of the properties he managed when he worked for South
Florida Water Management.

Is that the trail in the picture? Doesn't look like it would be much fun to walk
through.

The "trail" is a raised wooden walk way - interesting place to visit.

Keep walking. The loop is 12 miles. You only went a few thousand feet
after the walk in from the parking lot. (not a bad walk in itself)
The picture I posted is about a half mile from the end of the
boardwalk. The scenery is about like that everywhere but the plants
and animals change. I was looking for the right light.

Is the accompaniment of a ranger a requirement?
