Haven't seen many public chanukah displays.

Strange, you must really live in an anti semitic place. They are
around here, generally just a Menorah but it appears that nobody
understand when you light the candles. They put them up with all
lights lit. Occasionally they even use multicolored bulbs.
Oy vey!

As for that jewish fella, jesus, hell, that isn't even his name, if
there was such a person.

Dunno, I would not be shocked if it was just a generic reference to a
number of evangelical Jews who were killed by the Romans.
I do understand very little of the new testiment actually dates to the
first decade AD.

There is still a lot wisdom in the writings, I just don't have any
brand loyalty.

I've not noticed any menorahs or synagogues around here. Plenty in
Montgomery County and over in Fairfax, of course. Several of the doctors
in the PPO I use are Jewish, but I think they live in the Annapolis area.

I suppose Florida is just a more multi cultural place than Maryland. I
guess I would have noticed it too if I wasn't from there all my life.
I pretty much only knew white people and black people but all
christian Americans (the blacks generally more devout than the
whites). I did know some Jewish folks at work but, like you say,
Montgomery county people.
We have people from all over here but nothing like West Palm Beach
where the kids lived. My grand daughter's school was like the UN.

Our part of Maryland is slowly progressing from near-redneck to
near-civilized. We have four or five very good locally owned restaurants
in the immediate area, a couple of decent chain restaurants, and the
usually ****ty McDonald's class of restaurants.
Chipotle is supposed to open soon.

If we need to do serious shopping, we go up to Annapolis.

The upside is that it is quiet here, relatively low crime rate, low
population density, and cows, goats, and horsies nearby.
