If you're looking for a great place in the NC mountains to go, try the
Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, NC. My wife and I just got back
from a weekend there, and it's our new favorite place in that setting,
bumping the Grove Park Inn out of top spot.

You won't regret it.

Looks like a beautiful spot, but I don't see any campgrounds nearby. May have to pass
this time.

Ban idiots, not guns!

Based on the website I don't think this is the kind of place you go
to in order to go camping.

Camping? Snerk...

I just had a mental image of John arriving at this place, entering the
lobby, walking up to the concierge desk and asking, "Could you tell me
where the dumping station is located"?

Sorry John ... just kidding ... :-)

I would hope a place like that would have sewer hookups! :)

I'm glad the post was made, as I found this place:

It really is going on the list of places to hit next year.

Looks nice. We spent a few days in Asheville, NC on the return leg of
our summer land cruise and were very impressed with that whole western
NC area.

That whole triangle of North Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina is
nice if you like the mountains.
That North Carolina was about the middle of the houses we rented.

This was Georgia

Our trip to Tennessee was a while ago when our standards were a little
lower.

Nice. That one in Georgia looks really special.

The funny thing was we caught a deal on the Georgia house and it
wasn't really that expensive. We were able to slide into an empty slot
in the schedule on short notice. That is Elijay and it is not a
horrible drive from Ft Myers.
This is right near the start of the Appalachian Trail. We went up
there for an afternoon. We had lunch in the restaurant in the new
Nolte and Redford movie.

You missed the Kangaroos tho (in Dawsonville). They closed

On the way home we stopped in Clearwater beach for a day or two.
