Its called a Mediterranean mooring, Actually its very common technique
over there. If look look closely you'll notice the bow anchor rode.
They usually drop the bow anchor to keep it steady when backing down.

Yes, I'm familiar with Med mooring and have done it a few times but
never in conditions like that. Did you see the sequence where the
line handlers almost got swept off the quay?


The location of the camera sure made those lines look awfully wimpy
considering the conditions.


Reminded me of the cruise ship tying up at one port and this huge Bollard
broke off, in to the harbor. You could see the rust from a long time crack
on the remains. Hope they check the tie points on those ferry landings.
