I agree wholeheartedly with this post. If someone gave me an airplane
it would be up for sale in a New York minute. Poor Swill, he seems to
base a person's worth solely on their possessions.
People don't learn to fly in order to buy airplanes. People learn to
fly because it's something they have interest in and want to experience
the process and challenge of learning and earning the license.
I'd never buy an airplane. For my purposes renting made far more sense.
I'll never even make any use of the ticket I earned. But, it's
another item to toss into the bucket of life experiences and I am glad I
did it.
BTW, the comment Harry made is characteristic of his narcissism. If
*he* hasn't done it then anyone who does is a dumb**** and is not worth
his valuable time to read of their experiences and questions of others.
Harry's time is very valuable you see.
I gave up trying to have a normal, adult conversation with him.
Actually, I have done it. I took two flying lessons in the late 1960s
out of the Detroit area, but then a friend of mine crashed and died
while flying his private plane, and a short time later, Walter Reuther,
one of my heroes and for whom the agency I worked for did consulting
work, died when the Lear Jet he was in crashed. A few years later, a
commercial printer whose company did work for me died when his private
plane crashed.
Indeed, I don't give a rat's ass about private aviation, but I came to
this conclusion after trying it and several friends/colleagues died
while involved in it. And I do agree the fellow here who is questioning
you about it *is* a dumb ****, but my opinion of him has nothing to do
with his interest in flying.
Actually, I think you and W'hine are far more narcissistic than I've
ever been. Has W'hine told everyone once again how much fuel his barge
holds, or how much water it draws?
