MPAC, acting as agent for Athens Township, repeatedly tries to defraud
me by assessing my property at two and three times it's actual worth.
I'm an "outsider" and the more they can gyp me, the less locals have
to pay. Their dirty tricks mean I have to repeatedly pay for and spend
time on appeals against the outrageous assessments. The place reminds
of a Southern town run by a "good ole boys" network. If they'll screw
me on taxes, they may do it to you on gas and groceries too - why
risk it?.
If you go the area (Charleston Lake) please don't spend any money
there. Fill up your tank in Smiths Falls, Kingston or Ottawa, brink
your own snacks and drinks. Leave your garbage in their containers,
look at the murals, use the lake, the parks, but don't spend a
nickel in that nasty place.
If you ever thought of buying property and retiring there, think
again.
