What tax rate? All of them?
The tax rate is the total tax take from the citizen. Everything else
is just obfuscation. Things like "the employer contribution to FICA"
and corporate taxes are just a way of hiding the real tax bite from
the average guy. Corporate taxes show up in the price of things you
buy and employer contribution is simply wages you never saw.
You don't want accountability? You can't run a program, or a business
that way
AFAIK
. What about RE taxes? State and local taxes?
How does obfuscating taxes in other things improve accountability?
If people actua, lly understood how much of the price of things was
actually tax they could make informed decisions about what they want
to government to pay for.
WTF? You aren't going to abolish taxes, and SS and Medicare are
thoroughly accounted for. Everybody knows that "some" part of
conducting business if affected by taxes, and they know what the exact
tax rate to business is for SS and Medicare. Those expenses are known.
It's the other side that's mysterious. Where does that tax money go?

The *only* fix for Medicare is medical cost reduction.
OK your turn. What's your plan for that.
The doctors are not going anywhere
The lawyers are not going anywhere.
The insurance companies are not going anywhere.
Adding a layer of government bureaucracy will only make things more
expensive.
If nothing else, fraud flourishes when the government is paying the
bills. The SSA is just "pay and chase". They seldom catch anyone.
Look, it's simple. Google "medical costs around the world" or similar.
Why are medical costs double in the U.S compared to the rest of advanced
nations. And they have similar outcomes. You'll find the "answers."
One of them is the U.S. has only 2/3 the number of doctors per capita as
the other "advanced" nations. That's just one.
It's adjustment time for America. Or just keep paying through the nose.
The need for health care is not going anywhere.
It's hard to believe you don't know all this, but keep banging your head
against a wall, and find a way to blame it all on taxes.
Those taxes are being demanded by medical providers.
It's they who need the haircut. That's how you lower taxes.
