A new bill introduced in the Texas state legislature makes it illegal
for average citizens to record police officers within a certain area.
House Bill 2918, which was introduced by Dallas Rep. Jason Villalba, a
Republican, would make such an act a Class A misdemeanor.

If passed, average citizens would have to be 25 feet away from a police
officer when recording and Texans carrying a handgun would have to be
100 feet away when recording. In a tweet, Villalba wrote, “To anyone
who
doesn’t like HB 2918 - Deal with it. I stand with cops who keep my
family safe. If you don’t like it - vote me out of office.”

That tweet was subsequently deleted and replaced with another one
reading, “HB 2918 is meant to protect officers, NOT restrict the
ability
to keep them accountable. It DOES NOT prohibit filming."

Because, you know, cops shouldn't have to answer when they shoot and
kill unarmed citizens, eh?

Without the ridiculous assertion about unarmed people, I would agree
with you. Cops have no expectation of privacy at work.
... nor do bureaucrats or politicians.

If a pair of cops, and usually they are out in pairs, can't subdue an
unarmed guy without using deadly force, perhaps they should find
another line of work.

Where did you come up with that? I never see two cops in one car. If a
guy is big and/or on drugs it would take more than two.

I've very seldom seen more than one cop in a car, even in Harry's neck of the woods.

He's bull****ting as usual.
