Speaking of SC, I just did a quickie calculation of what my state income tax would be down there. It's right at $3000 more than I pay here!

I'll have to look at property taxes. My wife thinks Charleston might be nice. What do you think? Is the humidity atrocious?


Charleston is a great city. Lots of charm and history, great food, lots of boating opportunities. Cost of living is not cheap in the city, but there are plenty of outlying areas that are nice and close enough to take advantage of the city easily.

It's on the coast (of course), so the heat and humidity are a factor, but it's not that bad except for part of July and August. In return you're blessed with some really nice weather the rest of the time and *very* mild winters.

As Luddite said, you'll find the people are really nice and friendly. And, we have a female Governor of East Indian decent that has her head screwed on straight.
