With the right bullet it would certainly take down wood chucks and you
could take the head off a turkey. I am sure a deer would bleed out
without too much of a chase but I think I would want something a tad
heavier if I was shooting at a ****ed off 400 pound tusker coming at
me..

Because of the high velocity they have a lot of striking power.

agreed Wayne, especially with lead tip or hollowpoints, and...especially if you hit bone.
