Well, I couldn't find a roof (snow) rake anywhere. So, I made one.
Problem is it's only long enough to reach about halfway up the
roof on the cabana.
First, to get out there, I had to re-shovel a path out to the cabana.
I can't believe how much snow is out there. I stopped at one point
and got a tape measure. Snow was 51 inches high in the area I was
shoveling and standing.
Anyway, got out to the cabana and cleared about half of the snow on
the front. That's a far as I could reach with my make-shift rake.
I then shoveled a path out behind the cabana, hoping to see that
the backside that sees the sun wasn't as bad. Wrong. It was
worse.
Screw it. Bring on the snow and rain. We have insurance.
Be careful. I heard of one guy that let his snow removal tools get
covered with four
feet of snow.
There's an organization I've heard of with a motto: "Let go, let God."
Maybe it's time to do so before you have a damn heart attack.
I'll ignore your snarky comment about Don. I guess you just don't
realize that some of us are dealing with record breaking conditions.
Fortunately, although getting long in the tooth, I am apparently healthy
overall. I haven't shoveled and dealt with so much snow and ice in
many moons and so far the ticker keeps ticking.
We are less than 10 inches away from the most snowfall in a winter since
records starting being kept 130 years ago. What makes it worse is that
all but 5.5 inches have fallen in the month of February. More tonight
and the possibility of another major storm on Wednesday. I have a
feeling the trend is changing though. I think (or am at least hopeful)
that the storm on Wednesday will end up going out to sea.
Richard, I feel for you. We've had about 18 inches of snow this year
and thats pittance compared to yours.
Right now I'd take a once a month 18 inches any day. 18" has become a
"nuisance" snowfall relatively, LOL.
The general Boston area has had over 98 inches so far with most of it
being on the south shore were we are. The all time record is just over
107 inches.
But, again, all but 5.5 inches have been in this month. It's
ridiculous. The piles of snow at intersections are so high you
can't see what traffic is on the road. People are flashing lights
and sounding the horn as they slowly pull out onto a road.
I hear you. It got so cold here last night that my banana trees and
bougainvillea wilted. Supposed to be 80 tomorrow, though.
I am out in the boat fishing. Flat calm, temp dropping. Had to be on a
long sleeve shirt. Supposed to be possible rain tomorrow. Very much
needed.
