One more time. Some years ago, a poster in this newsgroup who was out of
control and apparently still is, made some direct and indirect threats
of violence towards me and to other posters here. In my case, it was
also hinted the violence would be perpetrated upon me by a motorcycle
gang member.

I took the threats seriously and contacted law enforcement in his area.
Two officers were dispatched to talk to the fellow. I reported all the
communications to the local and state police authorities here, who also
took them seriously. It was suggested I apply for a carry permit. My
lawyer said he could handle the application and other paperwork. I said
"Sure, go ahead." That's all there was to it. For me, the process itself
was a lark, since *I* really didn't have to do much and it gave me a smile.

I keep forgetting this is rec.boats.
