I checked the weather forecast last night before going to bed. Cold, but
no storms or snow on the horizon.

Got up this morning and now a blizzard warning has been issued for
Monday-Tuesday with 18" to 24" of wind driven, blowing snow forecast.

What happened overnight?

Bring in the reindeer!

This really sucks. Fri-Sat we had a small storm that put about 4 inches
of snow on the ground/driveway and then changed to rain which
saturated the snow. I plowed it but then last night it changed back
to wet snow and froze solid. Solid ice and it's a long
driveway.

Hoping it warms up enough today to scrape it all off with the truck plow
or the tractor before this next blast of snow arrives Mon-Tues.

You could always stay indoors. If we have a heavy snow, I just call the
plow guy and not worry about getting out and about until after he gets to
us.

We used to have the driveway plowed by a contractor but he'd typically
show up four or five hours after the snow had stopped. Since I had the
F-250 that has the "plow" package, I decided to get a plow for it.
That was several years ago and I am sure I haven't come close to
recovering the cost of the plow versus paying to have it plowed but at
least we can get out on our timetable, not the contractor's. Shoveling
or even snow blowing isn't really an option. Total length of driveway
that has to be cleared is over 1000 feet and it's a wide driveway.
