It turns out that you don't really need to thread the barrel on most
if not all Ruger 3s. Mine has little detents on each side which are
designed to accept set screws for slip-on accessories such as muzzle
breaks. No reason why a suppressor couldn't slip on the same way.
Gee, I've never noticed such detents on any of the Ruger Mark III's I've
owned or handled, nor are such detents visible on the Mark III's shown
on the Ruger websites. I have seen a Rube Goldberg-like device that
clamps over the front sight and allows attachment of muzzle accessories.
Oh, my current production Mark III, Model 512, has no little detents.
