Volquartsen will thread and crown the barrel on my Ruger Mark III for
$65 and move the front sight cut back on the barrel for an additional
$30. That's the best price I've found and with a reputable company.
Turnaround time is 10 to 14 days...

I bought the silencer to attach to my AR 15/22, which already has a
threaded barrel, but it would be nice to use it on a pistol, too.

Why? :)

I have a couple of friends who like to shoot but are overly sensitive to
the noise. Muffs and plugs don't seem to help them, but a "silenced" gun
in .22LR would be fine. I am considerate of my friends.

Unreal. Do all your shooting friends put silencers on all their
weapons?

Wow.

Of course not, nor are we all out shooting together at the same time.
I also enjoy shooting a silenced .22LR...no need for muffs or earplugs.

So your 'sensitive ear' guy shoots only when all the other guns are
silent or silenced?

Wow.

If we had a little more enlightened BATF/Congress, they would remove
suppressors from NFA34, everyone could afford a suppressor and
shooting at the range would be a lot more pleasant.
There is no hardware reason why a decent suppressor should cost more
than $20 and a top end one could easily be well under $100 once
someone cranked up mass production..
Guns would be standard with a threaded barrel.

I don't know what the problem is here with some posters and silencers. I
wear earplugs and muffs when I shoot my rifles and my revolver... .357 and
..223 rounds are very loud, at least to me, and I don't want to end up
wearing hearing aids. Suppressors are $300+ and $200 for the tax
stamp...really overpriced as you point out.
