First to finish in Class III river motorboat race.
Middletown to Hartford and Return...
1948.
Barbour brand boat with Evinrude motor.
He raced the Albany to NYC competition a few times, and also raced on
or near Lakes Zoar and Candlewood in Connecticut, and at the base of the
Lake Zoar dam.
I do have at least one memory of when I was a wee lad of watching my dad
win a motorboat race.
In the 1950s, he crossed the Atlantic in Swedish-made outboard cruiser
powered by two Evinrude outboards. They traveled in the lee of a
freighter, and fuel and supplies were passed down to them from that
freighter. He was the co-pilot and mechanic on the trip, and it was the
second time that trip was accomplished successfully. My dad was the New
York/New England importer for that brand of boat at the time.
What a crock of ****.
