Siince it is a gift I hope you will post how the giftee likes the gift.
I bought a Mosin Nagant last year and I have now shot it a couple of
times. What is the year of the one you purchased. Mine was manufactured
in 1939. My research on the weapon led me to purchase one manufactured
prior to the German invasion in June of 1941. Prior to the invasion they
were well built weapons. After the invasion they were produced as fast
as possible and the quality level declined.

Mine came with all the stuff with the excpetion of a sling. I ordered
one last week and it arrived yesterday so now my weapon is complete. For
the record the hard sights on the weapon are ranged out to 300 yards.
Below that distance they will shoot high.

It is a fun weapon to shoot.

Oh, the sling and all the other stuff, bayonet, ammo pouches, tool kit, etc - everything in the picture - came with it.
