I sometimes enjoy the debates but also don't take anything seriously.

I remember rec.boats back in the mid 90's. Some of the "discussions"
were absolutely hilarious ... and in a good, positive vein. The great
"debate" about bilge pumps between Marcus and "Mrs.B". is a good
example. Then there was Skipper and his "Deadly Dick" fishing lure. I
used to read them laughing out loud. Times have changed.
