Some proposed changes to Massachusetts General Laws that cover gun
ownership and control was just passed (by one vote).
The changes are not limited to but include:
1. Limits gun purchases to one per month.
2. No more private sales. Any transfer of ownership has to be done
via a federally licensed dealer.
3. Expands the MA Attorney General office's power to ban guns they
don't like.
4. Requires gun owners to provide a list of *all* guns they have ...
registered or not ... when applying for a permit renewal.
5. Expands local police power to deny new or renewal permit
applications.
There are *no* provisions in the new laws that address consequences of
illegal or criminal use of a firearm. No new "tough" penalties. The
changes are directed towards those who follow and obey current gun
control laws.
There was a time, back in the 1980's, when getting a permit for a
handgun was all but impossible in this state. Local police departments
simply didn't approve them in most towns and cities. This resulted in
an increasing number of lawsuits challenging the right for them to
disapprove applications on a "whim" and most towns changed their
policies to avoid expensive court and attorney costs.
Now it seems the very liberal government of this state is starting to
slip back to the old ways. What goes around comes around.
I am wondering what all the people who inherited, were gifted or
otherwise obtained a firearm "back in the old days" before permits
became easier to obtain are going to do when permit renewal time comes
around.
I 'spect they'll lie a bit. Sounds like confiscation is the next step.
I'm sure ohbama's got his eye on thing up there. after all he copied
their healthcare plan. No wonder Luddite cant wait to get out of that
state. Christ, he got stomped on for trying to clean up his swail. They
tax him to death. They got the worst drivers in the country. I'm
surprised Harry hasn't moved there. They're his kind of people.
