That's what I meant. Didn't you just buy a 'hog leg' six shootin' side
arm? Why? Surely it wasn't because Custer carried one is it? Btw and
all kidding aside, maybe people are attracted to the military 'style'
arms is due to they're light weight and 40m accuracy

Yeah, I did: .357 MAG DA six-shooter, stainless steel, 6" barrel, just
like Marshall Dillon and General Custer *didn't* wear.

I like the weight of a *heavy* steel sidearm. And, of course, if you are
fighting off zombies, once you run out of ammo, you can grab the
revolver by the barrel and smack 'em over the head.

This is the "sister" of the one I got:

The grips are ugly, there's no other way to describe them, but they do
fit my hand well, and they seem to absorb the kick from .357 rounds. The
.38 Special rounds feel like .22LRs.

There are a few things I want to have a gunsmith work on, to make the
new revolver more "mine" and less like every other one. One, I think,
will be to have her bead-blasted, to tone down the stainless steel
shine. The other mods are more practical.

You probably already know but there are several sources for custom grips
for that gun to personalize it even more.

Yes, and I've seen some really beautiful wood grips, and they aren't
that expensive. The problem is, the wood grips don't absorb the "shock"
from the .357 rounds all that well. The rubber grips are like a Koni
shock absorber. But I probably will be shooting mostly the .38 Specials,
since they are considerably less expensive, and the kick from those
seems pretty mild in a heavy pistol. I might borrow a set of wood grips
from a buddy and try them on for size.

I'm going to be replacing the front sight with a HiViz. My extraordinary
(ha!) gunsmithing skills are good enough for that.
