various states has taken measures to restrict voting, to not extend
unemployment compensation, to deny equal pay for equal work, and in the
Ryan budget that passed the House today, further slice what remains of
the social safety network in order to give more tax breaks to the
wealthy. All of those moves, every one of them, impact the poor and
minorities negatively. Smug Republicans in denial.

Smug is the wrong word. "Clownish" is the right word.
Comes from being scared. Or maybe from being clowns.
Certainly not "smug".
Maybe the Dems are smug. Maybe justifiably so.
