Boat chartering in Mallorca

Hi Folks
I'd like to charter a smallish cruiser (four to six birth) around
Mallorca for about a week.
I've had a little bit of experience with small speedboats, river boats,
wave runners and that sort of thing but never a cruiser on the sea.
I realise that licences / permits are required for this sort of thing and
that some training is a must.
I'd like to hear from anyone with experience on this matter.
Can I take a course in the UK and obtain a permit / licecnce before hand
that would be valid in the Balearics?
What are the typical costs for a cruiser for about a week?
Know any good charter companies?

Sincerely, Steve

Hi,

I've recently completed the ICC course at the Hamble School of Yachting. Its
a practical weekend course during which the examiner will test your skills
but also show you the correct methods etc. Its quite laid back and good fun
too. I think the price was about £125 for the weekend and then you have to
apply to the RYA for the ICC which is a further £28. Hamble school is on 023
8045 2668.
Around Hamble is a much tougher sail than Mallorca due to Tides, flows and
quantites/size of boat so
The ICC is all you need to sail around Mallorca but I'm not sure what the
Charter companies require.
Don't know prices for Charter as we have a Yacht in Mallorca. Also check
your Holiday insurance to ensure it covers sailing.
