What are the times involved. I know that the old type florescent tubes
took as much power to start them up as it did to run them for 35mins but
is this true for the new bulbs?

Lets face it many people have the non efficient bulbs on for long
periods and choose replacements on the buying price rather than the
running costs.

Simple solutions are always the best. So lobby your MP to get a tax
put on traditional light bulbs to make them at least as expensive as
energy efficient bulbs.

Simple answers are often wrong.

For applications where a lamp is left on for long periods an 'energy
efficient'
lamp is better than a traditional one. Otherwise it is not.
Why should anyone be penalised for choosing the better bulb for his
application?
