Wye Descent for Newbies

We're intending to do a descent of the Wye from Glasbury to just
beyond Hay on Wye next weekend in rented canoes. We have done a little
canoeing before unsupervised (two day excursion in Abel Tasman
National Park, New Zealand). Is the Wye a realistic proposition, or
are we being reckless?

No problem and normal levels

but if the river is in flood keep out of the trees, and away
from the bank, if you can not do that don't go.
