I'm looking to do some paddle (sea kayak) on lake Huron. For 3-5 days

expedition size (19') kayak ?

I've done 10 days on Georgian Bay in a kayak just shy of 17 feet.

But if you have car camping sized equipment: large tent, two-burner
Coleman stove, etc., then you may need the larger sized boat to fit it
all in. Most kayakers, like backpackers, tend to buy gear that packs up
as small as possible.

Another thing to consider is how you are going to use this kayak most
of the time. If you are going to do a lot of longer expeditions, then
the larger boat might make sense. But if short trip and day paddles are
your main use, then go for the shorter boat.

And storage is not necessarily a factor of length. There are
high-volume boats available in many lengths that will hold as much or
more than a 19-foot touring boat. Take some time and look around.

Good luck!
