Norwegian training ship, manned only by teenagers. "Flying Clipper".
"Mereator", a Belgian boat belonging to the Merchant Navy. "Amerigo
Vespucci", an Italian vessel not taking part in the race.

TALL SHIPS RACE 1962
Titles read: "TALL SHIPS RACE".

Torbay, Devon.

General view of Dartmouth. In the harbour we see several shots of the
Amerigo Vespucci being prepared by Italian naval crew for a tall ships
race from Torbay to Dieppe via Ushant. Sailors climb the rigging and
haul ropes. The German ship Gorch Fock is prepared by her West German
Navy crew.

Several L/Ss of the ships moving out to the starting point in Tor Bay.
The tall ships and several smaller craft pass the Royal Yacht
Britannia then head out to sea on a rather misty day.
