Some pictures of the IFKS (Open Frysian Chiampionship Skustjesilen)( Skutjesilen in Sloten and the spectator fleet. As it was very crowded on relatively narrow canals, I had to shoot inbetween dodging all kinds of crafts. I was able to get some impressions though.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

(Picture 7 is a cropped one, I tried to get the proportions just like the famous Dutch maritime painters, whit lot's of air showing.]

"Sloten" the smallest town of The Netherlands, I visited it by bike, by car,
by sailing and by skating.
Very nice old place.

Sloten is indeed very beautifull.. I usually visit Sloten by boat. When I
was younger I always wondered what my parents liked about Sloten. Now that
I'm older I do appreciate the histroical qualities of the town (probably
the smallest place with city-rights (stadsrechten) in Holland. Anyway I can
recommend a dinner in 'de Zeven Wouden'. (http://www.dezevenwouden.com/)

During the summer you vcan eat outside with a nice view of the historical
canal.
