Sailors wave their hats to the patrons at one of our water front
establishments . All the females on shore screamed and waved back !

last time I checked they were $2500.00 to $9000.00

No one is using the two large binoculars.

What is strange is that the guy in front of the upper binoculars is using a
small optical telemeter.

I had no idea that they were still used.

Why is it so small, the WW 2 versions of these instruments were much larger.

probably keep track of the distance from the shore line
would be major loss of face to run aground, like the The USS Missouri
grounding in 17 January 1950 when the battleship ran aground while sailing
out of Chesapeake Bay.

FYI - The man in the red shirt outside the bridge is part of the River
Pilot team who is setting up the portable AIS+ navigation tracking
system used by the pilots association . The Delaware River Pilots just
got on the ship about 10 minutes before this photo .
