The Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Martha L Black is downbound in
Lock 3 of the Welland Canal on April 25, 2015. She has been working
the ice around Whitefish Bay in Lake Superior. I believe that the
helicopter on her flight deck is used as a spotter to check ice
conditions.

Thank you Paul. It was a bit of a grab shot. I knew the breaker was
around Lock 3 but thought that I would get there too late. Plus I
didn't know it was carrying the helicopter, never mind that it would
be visible. Tough to see in this picture but the ship had started to
be lowered and then stopped.
