This containor feeder barge has been running pretty regularly for the

Interesting set of canal pix, Lee! But I have a question: How do you control
a heavy barge like that when your only connection to it is a little towline??

Thanks Vlad ,

It takes REAL skill to tow a barge because the barge always wants to
kick the opposite way the tug goes . Also if you suddenly stop ,
the barge can't and it will run right over you .Also if the barge runs
aground while being towed it can cause the tug to rotate or twist
and capsize if the engines are not stopped soon enough .

But as you can see , the Captain has no choice but to tow because he
couldn't see over the containors if he pushed from behind .
